About the Village
Sharrington is a small village on the edge of the Glaven Valley in north Norfolk, just south of the A148, approximately 3.5 miles from the Georgian market town of Holt to the east and 10 miles from Fakenham to the west. The nearest coastal village is Blakeney about 15 minutes drive away and Cley, Wells, Holkham, Brancaster and Burnham Market are all easily accessible by car. In a North Norfolk District conservation area with locally and nationally protected architecture.
The village is bounded by the A148 to the north, The Street/New Street to the east and Bale Road to the west. To the south lies the village of Brinton that forms the parish with Sharrington.
The surrounding area is largely agricultural but, within the village, there is a small, thriving children’s nursery, a number of holiday cottages, a car repairers, and a builder.
The Village Hall is located in The Street is available for hire, as is its equipment. It’s busy, providing a centre for local communities, and it hosts a growing number of events throughout the year including fitness classes and a Christmas Fayre.We have built a reputation as a Live Music venue attracting some very well known performers. There is an active craft group, wine club, ‘The Noble Rotters’ and gardening group which are supported by folk from inside and outside the village.
The village church, All Saints, is in the Bale Road and dates back to the C13th. At the heart of this ancient village stands the impressive Sharrington Hall built largely in the C16th and C17th and restored to its former glory in 2020.
