Our Village

A place to breathe.

Sharrington is a small village on the edge of the Glaven Valley in north Norfolk, just south of the A148, approximately 3.5 miles from the Georgian market town of Holt to the east and 10 miles from Fakenham to the west. The nearest coastal village is Blakeney about 15 minutes drive away and Cley, Wells, Holkham, Brancaster and Burnham Market are all easily accessible by car.

The village is bounded by the A148 to the north, The Street/New Street to the east, Bale Road to the north and Lower Hall Lane/The Ash Yard to the west.

The surrounding area is largely agricultural but, within the village, there is a small, thriving children’s nursery, a number of holiday cottages, two car repair businesses and a plumber.

The village church, All Saints, is in the Bale Road and dates back to the C13th. At the heart of the village stands the impressive Sharrington Hall built largely in the C16th and C17th and recently restored. The Village Hall is in The Street and hosts a number of village based events but is also available for hire as is its equipment.

We have an active gardening group, ‘Sharrington and District Gardening Group’ and a wine club, ‘The Noble Rotters’, both of which are supported by folk from inside and outside the village. The village which boasts an excellent community spirit hosts a number of events throughout the year including live music nights and a Christmas Fayre.
