Gordon Giltrap
January 2016 saw the first visit to Sharrington of internationally renowned guitarist Gordon Giltrap and his absolutely delightful wife, Hilary. Gordon is perhaps best known from his wonderful piece ‘Heartsong’ which was used as the theme tune for BBC’s ‘The Holiday Programme’ for a long time. Please click here for a link to Gordon playing ‘Heartsong’ live more recently. He’s also well known for several seminal albums from the 80’s such as ‘Visionary’, ‘Fear of the Dark’ and ‘Perilous Journey’ to name but a few.
Passionate about Village Halls, Gordon was keen to visit ours and just loved it. At the time, sadly, because of health issues he was unable to perform but he did suggest that one day in the future, all being well he’d love to play a gig here. The rest is history!
It was a long process but, having, thankfully, regained his health, Gordon began performing, writing and performing once again once again. His most recent album ‘Scattered Chapters’ is one of which he is most proud.
Gordon has since had a long and happy association with Sharrington Village Hall. He has performed here on several occasions and, hopefully, we will be able to welcome him back again soon!
This video of Gordon playing ‘The Dodo’s Dream’ was recorded here at Sharrington as was the more recent composition ‘The Kissing Gate’ below.. Enjoy!
